NEXT IS NEW YEAR

So Christmas is over for another year and we are now planning New Years Eve, I have never been a fan of New Year so always stayed in with all the grandchildren and we had our own party.  They are all growing up so fast that now most of them go out with their friends or stay at friends.

It is the time to also think of your New Year Resolutions and on my list like I’m sure for a lot of people is the dreaded diet and eating healthy.  Why does it get so much harder the older you are as I could lose weight really easy when I was younger, there is nothing fun about a diet and I find it very boring.  Matt and Lynda are also going to diet so at least we can keep trying to beat one another each week so I think that will help.

I didn’t have a holiday this year as wanted to get some things done in the flat so I am thinking about them already.  Izzy and myself are going to Amsterdam in February so that is the first thing to look forward to.  I will also go out to Spain with Lynda and stay at her place.  Kara and me are having a weekend in London and going to the theatre so that will be good.

I hope my health improves a bit especially my heart as that is getting me down, I have to wear the monitor for another 7 days in a couple of weeks, this will be the third time but hopefully they will then decide what to do.

Are you going out New Years Eve? Have you thought of any resolutions?

  1. I wish you hope, happiness and good health for the new year and many years to come!

As far as resolutions are concerned, I plan to keep plugging away at my goals–little by little, step by step–and feeling good about my progress. That will give me inspiration to keep going. One day in the not-to-distant future, I’ll glance over my shoulder and marvel at the distance I will have traveled and I’ll chuckle as I realize that there was a time when I thought that standing in that position would have meant that I had arrived. Instead, I’ll be in pursuit of new, higher goals and reveling in the joy of the journey!

Only those of us who are aging can appreciate that experience. After all, age is only a state of mind. Right?

As for that diet you mentioned, consider something you can “live-with” (pardon the pun 🙂 In other words, eliminate one unhealthy choice (a minor sacrifice that won’t make you feel deprived) and add one healthy choice that makes you feel like your making a minor improvement in your health status. When those two things become a regular part of you lifestyle, repeat the process with two other choices and just keep striving ahead no matter how slowly you move or how long it takes.

    Happy New Year!

    • Very good idea about the diet, I like that.
I understand what you mean about plodding along as I often stop and am amazed at what or how much I have written.
I am pleased to be achieving anything as some days I cannot do a thing, even holding a book to read hurts. Onwards and upwards and a very happy new year to you xx

  2. I’m a homebody on New Year’s Eve. We have a nice dinner, watch a DVD and because we are older than sin we are in bed before the ball drops in Times Square. Wishing you first of all a healthy New Year and second of all much happiness in the coming year.
