THE VALIANT SAILOR AT CAPEL-LUNCH

I have driven passed here often so on Saturday I took Kara and Dan out for lunch and we popped in here.  The Valiant Sailor, Capel.

The garden looks a lovely place for lunch in the summer with a children’s play area and lots of seating also a nice smoking area.

The atmosphere inside was nice and friendly and we were served immediately, we ordered our drinks and food.  We did have to wait a bit but they explained that a table of 13 had just ordered so we did not mind.

I was looking forward to the patè with caramalised onion chutney which Dan ordered as well and Kara had the basil and tomato soup.  The onion rings were good but the cheesy chips came out with just grated cheese on the top so we asked them to pop it in the microwave so the cheese melted over the chips.

Dan asked for our chutney as it did not come with the patè but they did not have any and did not realise that it was supposed to be caramalised onion!  Very strange, they apologised and took off the price of the chips and onion rings to make up for it, that was very good of them but I would have rather had the chutney.  I think they could have put a bit of tomato, cucumber and onion with the lettuce as that was not very nice on its own.  Kara loved the soup.

I thought the lunchtime deals of 2 courses for £8 was very good.
