ABOUT NANNY COOL

I am defiantly still climbing the hill and sure someone is pushing me back down! But that’s another story, I will come onto later. Are you climbing or over the hill? I’ve never really liked that saying. Are you rolling down it or have you been pushed and how do you know if your going up or down.

I am a Nan to 8 and sure there will be more, the eldest being 17. I know, I don’t look old enough! Ok, maybe I do with no make-up on. I live with the cat, Peaches, by the sea in Kent.

This is my first time at blog writing and one of those New Year Resolutions that we all make but very rarely do, but I am proving them wrong, well on this one so far. I aim to bring you fun and laughter from holidays to dating and even gardening.

I am also writing a book and some short stories, not as easy as what I thought. It’s hard work calling yourself a writer, yes that is my official title now. I will try my best to fit it all in, not sure about updating blog three times a day!

They say I’m in my prime of life, oh no! that’s the 40’s what shall we call the 50’s? That’s the first thing you have to comment about, all answers read and will pick the best for this blog. The prize being, you get to see your name in print and add a helping hand to spread the word about Nanny Cool.

I was going to tell you all about myself but I think I will do that in stages as I don’t want to bore you and I’m sure I can think of someway of making my life sound interesting and full of drama, mm do we need drama?

  5. I think we all end up liking our own company as we get older. Not much time for all the rubbish of living with someone else and having to compromise all the time. Pleasing oneself is great fun once the old learned behaviour has been ‘unlearned.’ LOL…happy single days to you 🙂

  6. Thanks for popping in to my blog again. Appreciated. I don’t think I am over the hill, having just had my 62nd birthday. I am just getting into my stride. Life used to being at 40 but I actually think it begins at 50 now and although I have no idea where the last 40 years have gone, consider myself still young and active and able and with lots of go still in me. I too am a Nanna – a boy 8, girl 6 and little boy 4 (soon) and they live 6,000 miles away now I have moved back to the UK so I don’t get to see them that often now. I am sure they would keep me on my toes. Do keep writing and blogging; it is good for you and do write that book! 🙂

    • Oh dear, how you must miss them, I went to Spain and bought a bar a few years ago (in my 40’s lol) but missed the grandchildren too much and came home. I am definitely enjoying life in my 50’s but think that is because I am happy living on my own! Xx

  10. Thank you for reading my latest script ‘A Knight of Love’ Nanny Cool and if you were not able to comment then you are not the only one as some more of my friends have brought it to my attention that they are unable to add their thoughts to my scripts.

Don’t worry though as I am not big on the statistics side of things and I always know when someone adds a ‘Like’ to one of my scripts so no problem my friend, I am just pleased that you called in for a read 🙂

    • I must confess that I was reading posts in bed and getting sleepy. I like your posts, you are a very good descriptive writer. Do the scripts come to you easily?
It’s another glorious day in Folkestone, lots of sun and not a breath of wind. Where do you live? Am I being nosey lol xx.

      • Thank you for your kind thoughts on my writing, to be honest I have never had any problems thinking about a title or writing any kind of script regardless of genre, I guess with a statement like that you will be thinking that I should be producing books every other month 🙂 But in reality the publishing side is an obstacle that all of us writers stumble upon, well unless one is rich of course and then those books are written by someone of little importance and as a result the celebrity gets all the fame, life is like that so there is no point in being upset about it.

For the most of us getting published is a bit of a minefield, especially if one wants to be published via publishing houses instead of the Indie route. Some time ago the idea of self publishing was a definite mistake as vanity presses are not the answer for getting work published properly, however with the growth of Internet publishing and now that Indie sensation it is getting much more recognised, and so is a valid way of publishing one’s work, but don’t be over enthusiastic about this route unless you are willing to market your book once it has hit the press. It takes a vast amount of work to maintain this kind of book publishing idea, and marketing does not come easy, it takes a vast amount of effort but worth it with a high calibre manuscript, one that everyone will want to read I mean 🙂

Okay enough said… Have a truly exciting Tuesday Nanny Cool and keep writing, as with any book worth its salt there is a massive amount of hard work that goes into it and I wish you very well with your own quest for fame and fortune, it really can happen 🙂

            • Keep at it, a lot of the authors I spoke to last week all had an awful time before publication and it came when they were older, which I guess I can understand as we all have more life experiences. Which is good as it gives us hope lol x

              • I have already been published but I am yet to break into the big time, where all the money is 🙂 lol

The best way to write is not to worry about anything and just keep on working towards richer goals, there are no time limits and never be disappointed if a book gets knocked back by someone, it is only one opinion my friend and who knows, the next person that reads it could hold the breakthrough that we writers are looking for 🙂

Even some best sellers have been through the knock back stages before finding fame so that is definitely something to think about 🙂

Have fun today Nanny Cool 🙂

  13. Karen, I think age is just a number but the 50’s are a really cool decade so I guess being in your fifties just makes you all so much more….MORE? I sound like the mad hatter don’t I? LOL! Thanks for the comment and like on my blog though. I like yours too and will be back to visit often. Ciao.

  14. At 52, I do have my days when I feel like I’m climbing that hill, thanks to the back, the knees, the hips. But, if it weren’t for them, and if properly challenged, I’d happily and playfully roll down the hill as I did in my youth – girls just want to have fun at any age!
