I do love a new book it feels so good and it is always a privilege to read them before anyone else, makes you feel all special lol.
I am looking forward to reading this as I loved the previous books about The Hampstead murders that Guy has written, it is nice to read about good old police work and the characters are great. Due to be published on the 2nd June and my review can be read on publishing day but I must say it sounds really good. Maybe this time if I try really hard I might get it right about who did the murder…..’really’ I can hear you all saying, lol I do try.
I have been catching up writing my reviews everywhere on social media for these two inspiring authors. I like them both for different reasons, Samantha Tonge for the underlying messages in her story about having a good time and making super memories does not need money, I think people today should remember that when spending time with their loved ones. Then Julie Wassmer for writing about the area we live in, KENT UK with its many wonderful places including Canterbury and the coast along by Whitstable, I find it so enjoyable reading about them and picturing where the characters are and where they are going.
So now I am onto the next book which is Secrets of the Dead by Carol Wyer! Sounds good so look out for the review of this one.
This was the first book I had read from Samantha Tonge and it certainly won’t be the last as this was a nice happy relaxing book to read and perfect for your holiday reading. I loved the characters but the best bit was the message that this book gave out about having fun and creating memories does not cost money. I thought it was great the way the charecters all blended together and very subtlety most were on the same page with regards loyalty, friendship and supporting one another’s dreams. This was so well written that I could not put it down and well worth a good ten stars.
Here we have another Whitstable Pearl Mystery which is just as good as the others, this is my final one so I hope Julie writes some more pretty quick.
It was good catching up with Pearl, her mother Dolly and her son Charlie and not forgetting the lovely sounding DCI Mike McGuire. They all sound so real I keep hoping I might bump into the handsome police detective when I am in Canterbury.
May Day comes but once a year and this one brings an actress returning to her roots to open the May Day festivities but before she can reacquaint with past loves and friends someone decides to murder her.
Can Pearl solve this one before McGuire or will he stick to the rules and work it out for himself? Secrets and lies are hidden but who will they hurt when out in the open and who had anything to gain by committing this horrible murder on May Day.
Another brilliant story, well written with lots of local items about the brilliant places in Kent. I again did not guess who did the murder, I could never be a detective, Pearl makes it all sound so easy the way she puts it all together. Brilliant 5 stars for a great series, I cannot wait for them to make it into a tv series.
The years go by so quickly, before you can blink they have all grown up but will always be in your heart. It is lovely looking back at the photos that we have so many of now with the smart phones.
Friday Alfie turned 9 it seems like only yesterday I was flying back from Spain for his birth, then today Izzy is 14, definitely makes you feel old.
A busy weekend with a lovely brunch yesterday prepared by Jodie, so nice for us all to get together. Then last night there was more partying in the hot tub, I returned home for an evening with a book, lol.
Cosmo the Elf returned for Alfie’s birthday and my friend Jackie, one of the lovely ladies who lunch made him a new jumper.
I read about a book called The Durrell’s of Corfu then realised it was a TV program so my Sunday evening is being spent watching the first series on catch-up, I must say it is very good and I think I will read the books as well one day.
I am now on the look out for lots of pretty tea-cups as I saw this on Pinterest and I think it will look great in my garden above a false fire-place.
Have a great evening and week everyone, still hoping for sunshine here but I guess you can’t have everything.
What a selection with over 300 books to choose from, they really do some good deals at The Works now and with so much choice, I like their craft section in fact I really like the shop and can never leave without buying something. I also like that they deliver but also you or your ‘shopper’ can pick up from the shop all with no charge.
You can now call me Crafty Karen! Not sure if any of it will be any good but I am giving it a go.
There are so many media platforms for authors and bloggers now that it makes it harder to decide which ones to connect to. If you can link them altogether so you only have to make one post that will automatically go to all sites then that is the best plan.
