CAT IN THE CAMPER

img_6276

Peaches had her first trip out in the camper today and I do believe she loved it. We drove to Deal and then parked up by the beach which was just over the road.

She soon found a couple of places to lay down and then she had a sleep. I went for a walk over to the beach and she was still asleep when I came back, I was not gone long as didn’t know how she would be.

It was a glorious sunny day today and hopefully we will have at least a week of good weather. Lots of fishermen on the beach today and even a couple of kids in the water, I bet it was cold though. The only problem with taking the cat you can’t have the door open which is a shame when sunny, the windows are ok as they all have screens. I did feel a bit strange just wild camping and think I would prefer to be on a site as there are not many places you can just wild camp and have room to put out your table and chairs.

Was nice to make a cup of tea and just chill, I should have taken my laptop then could have done some writing. At least I know the cat is ok in the camper if I want to take her anywhere again.

Was a nice day out and better than sitting indoors. What do you do if you take your cat with you on your travels?

CAMPER VAN TRAVELS UP THE ROAD!

fullsizeoutput_155c

I had my first night away of this year, mainly to clean tanks and make sure everything was working. Jodie and Alfie came with me, we went to a site near where we live and hooked up to electric. We had a hard standing as the fields are so full of water still but they do say next week will be nice so hopefully everything will dry out a bit.

Little Satmar holiday park is situated in the clifftop village of Capel-le-Ferne, just outside Folkestone, and caters for approximately 50 touring pitches including 3 hard standing areas. Many of the pitches have electric hook up available and there are two toilet & shower blocks on the park – the block within the touring field also includes a kitchen wash area and a chemical disposal area. There is a park reception which incorporates a small shop and tourist information, open daily between 8:30am and 5:30pm. Next to the reception is a small laundry area.

img_6263

Everything worked fine on the mains electric but we had nothing from the leisure battery so I took it back to the garage that put the new battery on and he got it all working but I need to get a new ring for one of the terminal plugs. I was so relieved it was just that as had a lot of purchases already this year for the van.

It was great spending time with Jodie and Alfie, I am so pleased we got everything sorted as now I can go anywhere. Next week I will take the cat away and see what she thinks about it.

img_6269

I went to the camping shop and filled my spare gas bottle up and he told me the name of someone who can fit my reversing camera.  The TV did not work as said no signal so hopefully it is just the aerial and the man can fix that as well.

I will have a weekend writing, chilling and a bit of gardening if the weather is nice and also think about where I am going next week. I don’t think I will go too far the first time with the cat but I think she is going to be fine.

SUMMER BUCKET LIST

img_4353

Someone asked me if I was going away in my camper van this summer and it got me thinking about a summer bucket list. What do you want to do? Have you made any plans yet? My biggest wish is for hot weather, it would be so good if we actually knew it was going to be warm and nice as then you would have so many plans. Also it would be so good to be able to leave all your chairs and cushions etc out in the garden all summer, I get so fed up bringing it all in as soon as the weather changes.

I think my list goes like this:

Camping with the family.

Going to the open air swimming pool in Faversham with the children.

Getting a tan.

Enjoying a glass of wine in Jodie’s hot tub.

Going to the beach.

Spending an afternoon in the sunshine with friends and drinking a cocktail.

Eating in the garden.

Seeing more of the UK in the camper van.

Sitting outside in the evening just chilling.

Taking lots of photo’s in manual mode on camera. (I need the practise)

Going up the stables with a picnic, watching them all ride.

I am sure I will think of lots more as soon as I have finished this.

I saw these cute note books in The Works, you can never have too many!

This is the book I am reading now and so far it is ok, a FBI agent has crashed her car and lost her memory so I guess anything could happen next. I have a few ideas but I am probably wrong, I think I have seen a film along the same lines but as usual I cannot remember the name of it.

This is a new author for me and one I have not heard off, I like giving reviews for different authors.

I have been asked if I would like to do another hypnotherapy session with Mark down at Core Therapies in exchange for a review, so that will be happening after Easter.

Tomorrow is the meeting for the Folkestone writers which I attend, this year I will be doing a lot of their advertising on social media and getting the word out about the writing competition this year and the anthology. We still have some books left from last year if anybody would like one please let me know.

Hope you are all having a good week and dodging the showers.

OUR YEAR THAT WAS 2017

So many books this year with many standing out as brilliant, I wonder if I can up my total for next year to 70?  I just squeezed in with 60 this year, I really don’t know how people read 200 in a year.

We went to Liverpool to see all the famous places, had a super time.  Was my first experience of airbnb which was great.  I loved the place and would like to go back as there really is so much to see and do there.

Our first spell of hot weather came early in the year and we made the most of it and got the gardens looking fab and enjoyed time on The Harbour Arm.

Easter began with a super lunch with the ladies, I tried to not eat too many eggs and really enjoyed the flowers.

Alfie turned 9 and Jodie got a hot tub, very enjoyable and the cocktail.

Billie, Paul, Jade, Mia and Zac enjoyed a long weekend away at Camber Sands and really enjoyed themselves.

A new garden centre for Folkestone that does great cream teas.  Brilliant day swimming at the outdoor pools, the weather was great.

A fantastic trip to Benidorm with Corinne, we watched ‘Benidorm” being filmed, made some friends from The Sun bar and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Two new dessert places opened in Folkestone and doing extremely well.

I took Alfie to the sci-fi show and we had a great time.

My birthday was such fun, had a brilliant lunch with my friends and some great presents.

I have missed all the sheep from Romney Marsh so took a pic when I went over to the dentist.  Alfie had a great time at the cinema, we watched Despicable Me 3.

Lynda’s 70th went on for about two weeks but what fun she had, the lunches and parties were fantastic then she went off for about three holidays.

Folkestone in the sunshine, I love the town I live in and it just gets better and better.

MY WORLD

Ladies that lunch is the best time of each month for me.

Buying the camper was the highlight of the summer and then going to Deal camping with the family was such fun.

Freddie and the twins came to visit for the day, Freddie now knows what is in every drawer and cupboard in the camper lol.

Sometimes you get a picture and when ever you see it, it makes you remember that day and laugh, this is one of those pictures, Beckie could not get her banana open like we (normal) do so she bit into it, I think she was going back to tribal ways! LOL.

My trip to Jersey to re-kindle my memories from childhood but I just did not realise that everything would be different 50 years on.  The places I visited were lovely especially the gardens and the pearl place.  I stayed in a great airbnb with super hosts, I must remember to try the black butter as still not done that yet.  The beaches were the best as they stretched for miles and the sand was golden.  Was a nice trip, with lots of reading and writing achieved.

I stayed at Jodie’s and we looked after Jack for the night, such a smiley boy and so cute.

We had family over from Australia who the girls loved catching up with, we had some nice cream teas and reminiscing.

Billie and Jade both got new horses this year, Jade did a super job of staying on her horse as she was going over the jump.

BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR

OVER MY SHOULDER BY PATRICIA DIXON

What a fantastic story and was so pleased with what Patricia said on her wall on Facebook.

img_0854-1

A delicious lunch for the ladies at The Grand and a bargain price so we will be visiting there again next year.

Billie and family had to say goodbye to Pepper who is now the shiniest star in the sky. Was so sad for everyone as he was such a loving little dog.

PURE pet food gave me a pack to try out with Peaches and then to blog about it, well she loved it and it really filled her up, you can purchase it from here.

FOLKESTONE BOOK FESTIVAL

What a brilliant two weeks of everything book related, was great to catch up with Julie Wassmer again and meet other writers.  There was a vast program this year so something for everyone including children.  The workshops were enjoyable and I came away with some new books to read.

Our christmas lunch and another year of monthly lunches over, it is great to have such good friends who support and care about each other.  We have some ‘special’ birthdays next year so lots to look forward to.

Then the snow came very early and caused disruption but all the children loved it even though it didn’t last long.

As we say goodbye to 2017 it’s been fun, sad, happy, hard and many other emotions but let’s go into 2018 with open minds and hearts and hope it is the best it can be.

REVIEW – KINGSDOWN CAMPING PARK

img_0710

img_0707

I will be doing reviews about all the parks I go to in the camper and they will be under park reviews on my blog and website.

Location of this park is by a lane so no big campers are allowed on to park but it was ok for me to drive up, I didn’t pass anyone coming the other way so that was good as I haven’t got my reversing camera yet.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, even coming down to my van to show me how to get the water hot and checking the fridge.  I first parked on a bit of a slope and the fridge has to be level to work.  They showed us where the footpath was to get to the village which is about 5 minutes away, it took me a bit longer though.

img_0708

The showers are a decent size with hooks so nothing gets wet, I find that very annoying. There is not a seat or bench in the showers which made it a bit difficult for me but it was very warm so I was only putting on shorts and a top. You can use the fixed hairdryer for 50p which would be good in the colder months.  There are plenty of toilets which are cleaned regularly during the day, also a good size if your taking toddlers to the toilet.

Most of the park has a sea view and you can drive round and park where ever you want also put up a couple of tents if needed as there is no restriction on space you take up.

img_0712

There are a few things for sale in the booking-in area, ice creams and basic camping needs but you can drive for about 10 minutes to the huge Tesco store which sells just about everything.

img_0709

As you can see we had a few tents up as one was the kitchen and the children had their own tents.

I would recommend this park to everyone as could find NO faults with it at all so it gets a huge 10/10 plus a gold star!

I loved waking up to this view every morning.

SUPER SONIC HOT NEWS!

I am the very proud owner of a Peugeot Boxer Autosleeper 1.9 TD!

fullsizeoutput_fd4

I cannot describe how happy I am to finally be the owner of a camper van, I used to have an old Volkswagen a few years ago and have always wanted to upgrade so that I had my own toilet and shower, meaning you could just stop more or less anywhere.

Over the weekend I have been reading up how everything works and getting used to it, there is power steering so that makes it so much better than my old one as I used to think my arms would drop off from all the turning.  The more I look and read the more gadgets and bits I find and I can honestly say that it has everything that was on my list!  It is also in really good condition with all history.  The previous owners have really looked after it well.

I have added a page to my web-site for camper travels and I will do the same on this blog, so where ever I go you can all come to.  I want to start doing some more travel articles and hopefully get them in some magazines, I did think of starting my own on-line one but I feel that would take up to much of my time.

I will take some more pictures inside when I have added a few things.  I have also made a Pinterest board about “My Camper”

I love these bunting campers, they would look great with fairy lights as well wound round them, hope Sylvie is reading this as she is soooooooo good at patchwork.

Happy holidays everyone.
