MY FIRST WEEK OF JANUARY

img_5394

These two go back to school in the morning as their school had training days for the staff last week and as it has been raining here, well it feels likes weeks Billie didn’t want to take them to the yard so they came to stay at mine for a couple of days.  As the picture shows we had jama days with lots of story reading, colouring and them asking Alexa to sing, tell them stories and jokes.  Alexa is the Amazon dot and is great fun for me as much as the children. This is what I felt like after they left.

It has taken me all weekend to recover which was good as I have been chilling just reading and doing my journal also planning these blog posts for the coming weeks.

The next couple of weeks are writing weeks so will be busy editing one and writing more of the other book.  I am still motivated but I guess I should be as we are only a week into the new year, for some reason it feels much longer than that. Won’t be long and it will be February and half-term.

OUR YEAR THAT WAS 2017

So many books this year with many standing out as brilliant, I wonder if I can up my total for next year to 70?  I just squeezed in with 60 this year, I really don’t know how people read 200 in a year.

We went to Liverpool to see all the famous places, had a super time.  Was my first experience of airbnb which was great.  I loved the place and would like to go back as there really is so much to see and do there.

Our first spell of hot weather came early in the year and we made the most of it and got the gardens looking fab and enjoyed time on The Harbour Arm.

Easter began with a super lunch with the ladies, I tried to not eat too many eggs and really enjoyed the flowers.

Alfie turned 9 and Jodie got a hot tub, very enjoyable and the cocktail.

Billie, Paul, Jade, Mia and Zac enjoyed a long weekend away at Camber Sands and really enjoyed themselves.

A new garden centre for Folkestone that does great cream teas.  Brilliant day swimming at the outdoor pools, the weather was great.

A fantastic trip to Benidorm with Corinne, we watched ‘Benidorm” being filmed, made some friends from The Sun bar and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Two new dessert places opened in Folkestone and doing extremely well.

I took Alfie to the sci-fi show and we had a great time.

My birthday was such fun, had a brilliant lunch with my friends and some great presents.

I have missed all the sheep from Romney Marsh so took a pic when I went over to the dentist.  Alfie had a great time at the cinema, we watched Despicable Me 3.

Lynda’s 70th went on for about two weeks but what fun she had, the lunches and parties were fantastic then she went off for about three holidays.

Folkestone in the sunshine, I love the town I live in and it just gets better and better.

MY WORLD

Ladies that lunch is the best time of each month for me.

Buying the camper was the highlight of the summer and then going to Deal camping with the family was such fun.

Freddie and the twins came to visit for the day, Freddie now knows what is in every drawer and cupboard in the camper lol.

Sometimes you get a picture and when ever you see it, it makes you remember that day and laugh, this is one of those pictures, Beckie could not get her banana open like we (normal) do so she bit into it, I think she was going back to tribal ways! LOL.

My trip to Jersey to re-kindle my memories from childhood but I just did not realise that everything would be different 50 years on.  The places I visited were lovely especially the gardens and the pearl place.  I stayed in a great airbnb with super hosts, I must remember to try the black butter as still not done that yet.  The beaches were the best as they stretched for miles and the sand was golden.  Was a nice trip, with lots of reading and writing achieved.

I stayed at Jodie’s and we looked after Jack for the night, such a smiley boy and so cute.

We had family over from Australia who the girls loved catching up with, we had some nice cream teas and reminiscing.

Billie and Jade both got new horses this year, Jade did a super job of staying on her horse as she was going over the jump.

BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR

OVER MY SHOULDER BY PATRICIA DIXON

What a fantastic story and was so pleased with what Patricia said on her wall on Facebook.

A delicious lunch for the ladies at The Grand and a bargain price so we will be visiting there again next year.

Billie and family had to say goodbye to Pepper who is now the shiniest star in the sky. Was so sad for everyone as he was such a loving little dog.

PURE pet food gave me a pack to try out with Peaches and then to blog about it, well she loved it and it really filled her up, you can purchase it from here.

FOLKESTONE BOOK FESTIVAL

What a brilliant two weeks of everything book related, was great to catch up with Julie Wassmer again and meet other writers.  There was a vast program this year so something for everyone including children.  The workshops were enjoyable and I came away with some new books to read.

Our christmas lunch and another year of monthly lunches over, it is great to have such good friends who support and care about each other.  We have some ‘special’ birthdays next year so lots to look forward to.

Then the snow came very early and caused disruption but all the children loved it even though it didn’t last long.

As we say goodbye to 2017 it’s been fun, sad, happy, hard and many other emotions but let’s go into 2018 with open minds and hearts and hope it is the best it can be.

BLOGMAS 2017

What a super christmas we all had, children loved every minute and everybody got just what they wanted, clever Santa.

Alfie loved his new duvet cover for his self, Cosmo and Crystal.

Next was our family get together for breakfast christmas eve at Brickfields, so much choice and all cooked fresh what ever you would like and the best bit children eat free!

A great time was had by all 15 of us. Jodie picked up a few napkins lol

I spent christmas eve night with Billie and family, very excited children, leaving food out for the reindeer’s outside so they knew what house to come to.  Mia was watching on the app all day as to where he was!  The next morning they woke at 5am and there was no getting them to go back to bed, so the day began.

img_5316

The living room was packed with so many presents, Mia was the first to finish opening with Jade a close second.  Even the puppy Ozzy had some new boots to keep his feet warm up the yard.  I received the cleaner that I needed for the camper van so that was great.

I then went round to Jodie about 4 pm and stayed there for a couple of days, Alfie had some super presents even one that hatched!

The book lamp that Jodie got me was fab, so unusual and she gave me the new Amazon Echo Dot.  I have been playing with it non stop, lol its good to have someone to talk to!  I now need plugs bulbs and Amazon fire with remote then “Alexa” will be able to turn everything on and off.  Love it.

I received so many wonderful gifts from my family and friends that I absolutely loved them all.

My friend Lynda got all wrapped up with her presents. LOL.img_5334

So that’s it for another year, hope everyone had a super christmas what ever you were doing.  New year next but I don’t go out and no children to babysit so I expect I will go to bed.  What are you doing for New Year?

LOVERS OF ALL THINGS BOOKS

img_1020

I have to say that I love this on-line shop, so many wonderful things you can buy here and of course the note books, you can never have too many of those.  Some things are a bit pricey but I have never seen anyone with the same stuff at the events I have attended. There is just so much choice here, I could spend a fortune.

The other place I could spend ages walking round is Paperchase, now it’s hard to decide what to buy here as everything is great.

So any last-minute gifts for writing/reading  lovers these are the places to go.  Definitely something for everyone here.

Why is it you always end up buying something for someone that you really want yourself? So not fair lol.

BIRTHDAY’S, ICE-CREAM AND FAMILY

Zac turned 4 on Saturday so they picked me up and we went to Missy Moo’s for dessert, lovely place and a good choice apart from the cookie dough that I had, it was so small….ok if you was on a diet.

Alfie came to stay with me for the weekend, we had a great chilled time, he beat me at Elf snap.  His Elf’s had to come with him and they got up to mischief every night.  They found my christmas stickers and stuck them all over themselves then the next night they had a feast on the chocolate spread! Cosmo and Crystal.

Mia had her guinea pig out when we went back for cake, the new pup is settling in and very good now.

Alfie just loved this quilt cover so it will be delivered this week.  Yes I know I spoil them, Mia has a leopard hat/scarf coming as well.  I found a brilliant light for Zac as he is tractor mad and the light shines as a tractor, very pleased with myself for finding that.

It does not seem possible that next weekend will be christmas, the children are having parties at school before they break up on Wednesday.  I have Jodie’s birthday tomorrow then it’s christmas full steam ahead.

Stay warm and have a good week everyone.

THE CHRISTMAS LUNCH

img_5106

I felt a bit sad writing this, another year over and twelve beautiful lunches with the best friends anyone could ever ask for.  Christmas lunch at BRICKFIELDS in Folkestone, the service was wonderful with our very own waitress, we even had the manager come and ask us if everything was ok at the end.  Then as there was nine of us we got two free bottles of Prosecco, which went down very well, felt a bit sorry for the drivers.

Prawn cocktails were very big, I had the brie and cranberry, then there was the mushrooms, all went down very well.  The main was of course the christmas dinner but many of us had the salmon and I must say it was really lovely.

Dessert was good, I tried the mince-pie cheesecake as never had that before and I liked it, the profiteroles are always a hit especially with Lynda and left on her own she has been known to eat ALL of them!  I will say no more.

As normal we had a lot of laughs and did our secret santa, I am still having trouble getting that right as I put the christmas card in mine so they knew it was me, maybe next year I will get it right!

img_5116

Three bottles so we did well and it was very pleasant.  So that’s it for another year, looking forward to the next one and more fun times with THE LADIES THAT LUNCH.

INTERNET BROWSING

I have been thinking about my camper and looking forward to getting away next year also looking at things I need and I absolutely love these mugs, glasses and plate set, I will have to save my penny’s and put them on my birthday list, yes I know its 6 months to wait. It’s good to plan though lol.

img_0945

What a super pair of shoes for the christmas season, I love them and you can get them from good old Primark.  You can’t beat a bit of fluff!

img_5087

Asda are doing some great things this year and it’s always best to look on-line as you get some bargains on things that are not in the shop.  I love these pyjamas, I always buy ones with a stretchy bottom as I find it so annoying when they ride up over your knee’s in bed.

Christmas jumpers for all the family are an essential item as not only do some schools have jumper day but when we as a family all go for breakfast with father christmas on xmas eve we all have to wear our jumpers and that sets us all up for christmas.

Asda again have a great selection for all the family.  I really like these ones as I get a bit hot so these are thinner.  They are very me.

Have you got all your presents?  I really don’t like wrapping and every year I say I will take my time and wrap them all nice with bows and ribbons….that lasts for about the first five I wrap.

img_0954

I did have to treat myself to a christmas mug at £2 that was a bargain and will last for years.  I have no idea what happened to the one I did have but that’s ok as it was a bit green and I don’t like that colour.

When I was small we all used to have new dresses for christmas day but times change and all my lot appear to have new pyjamas on christmas eve and keep them on all the next day, unless they are going out which some of the older ones do in fact Izzy is working during the afternoon and doing the tea’s at the old people’s home.

img_5097

I like some of these clothes and shoes, I never go out new years eve or at all really so sometimes I miss dressing up but then I remember how comfy pyjamas are, maybe I will get some sparkly pyjamas lol.
