My friend Corinne and I took two of our granddaughters for tea at The Grand.  They had a brilliant time and enjoyed ever minute of it.

The scones are the best bit as they are warm and you get gorgeous clotted cream with them.  Corinne and the girls had never been to The Grand before and they were very impressed.  It is a lovely old building with so much character, if only the walls could talk as so many famous people and royalty have stayed here.  In 1909 it opened the very first sprung dance floor in Europe and the King and Queen were the first to dance on it.

It really is worth taking the tour on a Friday at 2pm and seeing it all in its splendor. For only £7.75 you not only get a full tour but also a cream tea!

You can’t beat a nice cup of tea in a cup and saucer,  I do believe the tea-set is having a comeback as you can get such lovely designs and colours that will fit any look.  I seem to have a weakness for anything French with the Eiffel Tower on as it looks so romantic, yes, I am a romantic at heart. I just need a T-pot to go with my different cup and saucers, which are a talking point because they are not the same.

Do you remember in the 60’s you had coffee sets with the large coffee pot, I like that idea as it looks nice on the table and you can just top up as needed.  I have not found a design I like as yet but I am always on the look out in the charity shops and on-line.

So many things are coming back into fashion, it is like a huge wheel that just keeps going round and round with a few new spokes put in now and then.  Imagine having the room to save everything we had, it would be like looking in a photo album and thinking ooo I liked that dress, wish I still had it……oh yes its in the loft!

The sun is shining today, it is lovely to sit and look out in the garden but not many flowers about now so think I need to go buy some Pansies for a bit of colour.  I am looking for a hedge cutter as I have a nice thick Bay tree and I would like it shaped into a heart as it is at the back of the garden right in the middle.  I have collected lots of runners from my strawberries so I will have a good crop next year.

To go with lots of ice-cream or just plain cream.  I have a craving for ice-cream again so I think a trip to McDonald’s for a McFlurry is in order.  Have a great week everyone, I will be reading as I seem to have a few books from authors waiting for a review so will have to get my head down.  I also have some good bits in my head for my book so they need to be put down on paper before they disappear, never to be heard of again. x

One of the oldest hotels in Folkestone but has been looked after and improved to a high standard over the years.  It is situated on The Lea’s over looking the sea with fantastic views.

My friend Lynda took me for afternoon tea, the entrance is superb with the conservatory open for afternoon tea or lunch, with pianist playing in the corner what more could you want.

As we were shown to our seats and the coffee was delivered, we both prefer coffee to tea, we sat and enjoyed the view and the surroundings.  Having a good chat about everything under the sun.

As you can see the selection was superb and the scones were warm with nice thick double cream, dieting went out the window. lol

The Grand may seem like a high class place but the prices are very reasonable, making it a luxury that most can afford.  The entertainment is vast including Afternoon Tea Dance once a month which is only £5.50, they cater for weddings and funerals also in October they are having a Murder mystery evening which looks wonderful.

As the hotel is very old they also do a tour of the premises which I am going to attend so can tell you all about it.  This is only £7.75 with afternoon tea so I will get lots of pictures and eat cake just for you! lol

So from antique fairs to quiz nights you can find it at The Grand, make this your next night out as you will not be disappointed.

Creative writing group is going well but not in the way I was expecting, we are still writing our play and improving it every week with stage direction and characters profiles. I can see it is another way of writing and guess it improves our wording and flowing of a story. The two hours go extremely quickly and next week is last week of play writing. So looking forward to what ever is next.

I had a lovely afternoon visiting a friend and catching up with her news, I always feel strange going there as the house I used to live in when the children were little is next door to her. I saw today that they have put a large conservatory on the back which does look very good and it was the next thing that I was going to do there if I had not of moved. My friend makes the best Victoria sandwich so that went down a treat with a nice cup of tea. Thanks Sylvie x. She also read my blog everyday.

I am happy where I live now and cannot see me moving again as it really feels like home and the garden is just the right size and my grandchildren are close enough to walk to see me. Tomorrow I have babysitting duties so I am staying at my daughters tonight as she is going to help in school from 9 to 3. By 4.00 I will be home and I intend staying indoors all weekend, hopefully sitting in the garden in a bit of sunshine would be good as my arthritis is really painful at the moment and i am finding it hard to do anything with my left arm.
