FOOD & DRINK AT SUNNY SANDS

DSCF3366

For a small business they really do cater for just about anything, from blow up rings to buckets and spades for the children and the best ice cream to keep them happy.  For the coffee lovers you can sit outside looking out to sea, up the hills or to the harbour, lots of inspiration there for us writers and the coffee is good.

Prices to suit every pocket, lovely friendly staff, what more could you ask for on your day at the beach.  If you fancy a beer they even have that for you, nice and cold.

It really is the best sandy beach that’s safe for children, many of our local play groups take the children there for a day out.  I often go down there and just sit people watching or looking out to sea, on a clear day you can see France and it makes you realise how close it is.

LAZY SUNDAYS

I think it should be ‘Sundays are for you’ so they can be what ever you want them to be, I had such good ideas for today as there is so much going on in Folkestone at the moment.  I was going to take my camera down to sunny sands where they are having a sand castle competition and that is not just a couple of buckets with a flag on the top, that is my sort of sand castle, these are experts with diagrams, planning and just the right sort of consistency sand!  Then I would go up to the bandstand on the Leas where they are having the strongest man competition, muscles and testosterone everywhere, im not a fan of muscles myself think they are a bit over rated.  I was also going to catch up with Helen while I was there as I think I have been a very awful friend as not seen her for ages.  I would have lots of photos for future blogs and material for some good posts.

What have I done?  Read half a book,

research internet reading, blog reading…there are some great blogs out there now, looked at the weather and decided as it was cloudy today would be a good PJ day.  I don’t even have to cook dinner as I made Paella last night and I think I have made enough for all week.

So my Sunday has turned into a not very productive day really and I guess very lazy!  But boy am I chilled.  I have also been looking at hair colours and cuts as I am having a change on Friday and going for something along these lines.

I am really liking the idea of short at back and long at sides as it gets all hot and sticky at the back of your neck so I am forever just clipping it up so this cut solves that problem.  As for colour I need some of my original colour back and some honey blonde but I do not think that is going to be very easy to achieve now, will let you know on Friday unless I am hibernating until it looks better.

One more week here and then the children break up from school for the 6 week summer holiday, lots of days out together planned again, just need the weather to stay nice like it has been.

Have a great Sunday what ever you are doing and I will be back next week.

EASTER SCHOOL HOLIDAY 2017

The grandchildren have had a busy couple of weeks, I love to hear about what they are doing.  Jade celebrated her 15th birthday with one of her presents being another trip to London to see her favourite singer Ollie Murrs with her Mum.

She also spent a day with her pony riding along the beach and a family meal in the local pub which I did manage to go to.

One of my friends Carol spent a month in Australia visiting her daughter and husband who live on 10 acres of grape vines.  I asked her before she went if she could get me a fridge magnet as I collect them from places I go and bless her she remembered and got me a pink one, I was so pleased with it as forgot when I lived there.

My eldest daughter got her new hot tub up and running not being able to wait for husband Darren to build pagola so up went the gazebo and it did the job and looked excellent.

Children had far too many eggs but enjoyed the hunts and eating of them.  All back to school tomorrow and that’s another holiday over, next one is the end of  May.

WORLD BOOK DAY

CASTLE HILL primary school got into dressing up for world book day, teachers included.

Lots of good looking book people for WORLD BOOK DAY 2017  Also Mia’s 5th birthday so lots of clebrations.

NORMAL SERVICE HAS RESUMED

It is so good to feel back to normal after so long and it was nice seeing Mia and Zac for a couple of hours this afternoon, Nanny is back.

This candle smells so lovely, definitely my favourite at the moment.  They are expensive the Baylis and Harding things but really worth it, their diffuser’s are the best.

It is also good to have my web-site and blog all sorted and up to date and seeing my stats go back up with all my readers back, I have missed you all.

It is very cold here at the moment and they keep saying we are getting snow but not had any yet, thank goodness.  I am all warm indoors though and getting sorted to watch the Blacklist tonight, I really love that program.  I have a new sky box and cables so it’s like watching an even newer TV as the picture is so clear and crisp.

Half term here now, not many plans except a day out with Izzy which should be nice as we always have fun.

Have a great weekend everyone x

RESOLUTIONS

Halfway through january and how are we all doing with the resolutions we made 18 days ago?  Is it really only 18 days as it feels like forever, I bet it feels even longer if your waiting until the end of the month for payday.

Diets……What a stupid time of the year to decide to go on a diet, its cold, miserable and all you want to do is eat nice homely meals with gorgeous desserts then sit on the sofa and eat popcorn and chocolates while watching a film.  I think it is best if we hold of on these diets and start in Spring when the weather is nice to go outside for a bit of exercise or do the gardening, also all you want to eat are salads which taste even better if grown by your own hands.

Dry January…..I think we can stick with this one as who wants to get ready and go out in the cold just to meet friends for a drink.

Saving money…..Very easy to do these first few months as you got everything you wanted for Christmas or in the sales, anyway your waiting for the summer clothes to spend your money on later in the year.

Positive thinking…..I have done well with this one as I just have to think of my family and friends and that is all the positivity I need.

How are you doing and have you stuck with yours?

THE YEAR BEGINS

TUESDAY 3RD JANUARY 2017

The school holiday seems to be very short this year as they only broke up a couple of days before christmas eve and now they are back today.  I always enjoyed the holidays when my children were little and I enjoy them even more now I am a Nan.  It is always sad when they start school as I see them so much before then, it always comes as a shock.  Then when they leave primary school and go to secondary school the changes really begin.  So I will look forward to the next holiday at the end of February.

Life is precious, live each day as your last, be happy and do what you want to do; I have read a lot of these types of sentiments over the last few days.  Does the new year give you the push to make the changes in your world or is it just circumstances that all come together at the right time?  I think as there were so many deaths of people in the news last year it does make us all think of our immortality.  We all assume we will live to a ripe old age but with many old people’s homes closing where are we all going to go?  Many of our children will not have the room or even maybe their own home as it is getting harder and harder to get onto the property ladder so then renting a bigger house is not financially viable.  So maybe living until you are 100 is not such a good idea, lets just follow our dreams and be happy. xx
