MONDAYS

Second week of August already, I feel sorry for the people holidaying in Britain as even though it is not cold we have had a lot of rain with weather alerts for this week again. The grandchildren keep asking when are we going to the beach or outdoor swimming pool or the fountains and I keep saying there is no sun and if there is some sun it does not last long.  I am sure they would go anyway but it’s just not as enjoyable for the adults sitting shivering on the beach.

I have been very productive today though as written two book reviews on all my sites, it would be so much easier if I just copy and past them all but I feel a bit awful if I don’t write something a bit different.  I can understand now why authors are always asking for reviews as many readers just do not bother.

REVIEWING TIPS

What ever you think of the book then write it.                                                                             It can be as long or as short as you want it to be.                                                                         You can do it in sentences or bullet points.                                                                                     Authors love to get feedback from their readers and will often connect with them on social media.

WHERE TO REVIEW

Authors Facebook or Twitter                                                                                                               Goodreads  http://goodreads.com                                                                                                       Amazon http://amazon.co.uk                                                                                                               Google+                                                                                                                                                     Pinterest, I have made a board about books I have read.

So there are many ways we can all support our wonderful writers that we have now and the ones that are just publishing their first book would be so happy to receive some feedback from their readers.

I hope that makes it a bit less daunting for some and to be honest before I started blogging I never even thought about writing a review.

I am just about to start my next book which is by Carol Wyer, I am looking forward to this as it is another one in the series about DI Robyn Carter.

I am looking after Alfie in a couple of weeks for a long weekend, he is crazy for Minecraft and very clever at it.  So we are going to read all about Pixelville by Daniel Riding which is a new book that was released last month, I will then get Alfie to review it as well as myself.

I guess I had better go and do some gardening before the weeds take over everywhere, I would much rather be reading or writing though.  I have done a lot of planning for my Jersey trip and decided that I will pop over to Guernsey while I am there as never been there before, so lots to look forward to and I really cannot wait.

THE TWO WEEK WAIT BY SARAH RAYNER – BOOK REVIEW

After reading an excellent article about this author and her books I asked for this one for my birthday which my daughter bought me.  I have never had any contact or information about IVF so this book is very informative, in fact almost an information book.  There are many view points here so you get a good all round picture of what’s going on with everyone even the men involved which I thought was interesting as they are forgotten a bit I feel in all these procedures.  The character’s are all held together with the connection of IVF, I think I would have found this more interesting if I had a connection but as I didn’t it was all a bit clinical and dare I say boring in parts, the main story could happen a lot quicker I felt.

So, sorry but this was not for me but a definite read for anyone struggling to conceive or going through IVF.

SUNDAY LOVE

IMG_0297

I am looking forward to a good week after being ill for nearly four weeks I think I am coming out the other side, I am not saying I am 100% but I can see light at the end of the tunnel.  I also really want to get back into my writing and I have not felt like that for a long time.  The only thing I have been doing is reading and wow have I read some great books lately, check out the reviews on my page.

So, what is the love about?

Valentines Day, when did it become February full of love month?  I have nothing against love but for all us single girls it does all become a bit much, every magazine, paper, TV station, adverts, advertising boards all full of bloody love.  I really do not think that all the people who wish to buy a card or present need so much reminding about what they can get and where, we are not stupid.  Rant over, have a great day x

WISHES FOR 2017

fullsizeoutput_a0f

I guess this is a bit like a bucket list with the difference being I would like to achieve these things this year so in no set order we start with:

Publication of something I have written-I have kept this vague in the hope I will achieve it lol

More family days with all of us together.

Take more pictures with my camera, I have found having a mobile makes you very lazy.

Visit the Shard in London, the view is amazing I have been told.

Visit my friend in Spain, love her house and I always feel better in the sunshine.

Lose some weight, no set amount as anything would be good.

Attract more followers to my blog and social media platforms.

Go to Liverpool as never been there, sounds very cosmopolitan in places.

Go to the Tate and History museums again as I was a child last time.

Try to get all 10 grandchildren and 3 children in one place for a photo!

Have entire flat painted white.

Watch Motown at the theatre.

I think that is quite a lot but we will see how I do, obviously some of these things depend on my health but I do think it is nice to have dreams.  What are your wishes for the coming year?

THOUGHTS

Laying on the sofa with a temperature and a horrid dose of flu gives you time to think and this mostly consists of things you do not really want to think about or confront but you end up thinking and getting upset and at the end of it hopefully you will have some answers.
I am not sure if I have found the answers but I do know that I have done my best most of the time, yes, I have made mistakes…loads of them….would I change them if I could…yes, in a shot. We all have to learn to live with our own mistakes, which I think is achievable if you are kind to yourself. The hardest thing to live with is other peoples mistakes that impact on you, yes you may understand it was a mistake but the why is hard. Learning to accept and move on is not easy and a struggle.
I try to help people whenever I can but I still feel like sometimes it’s never enough, should I give more but then what about me and what I want. I have given everything I can and no it’s not good enough, I am happy with what I have given and tried, yes some things could of been done differently but it’s too late now so accept and move on. Life is too short and I for one realised that when I nearly lost one of my daughters in a car accident a few years ago, you do not know what is round the corner so make sure you are happy with your partings as sometimes you never get to say hello again.

20140228-021413 pm.jpg Looking at this picture makes me want to run away and lay on that beach but I know I can’t so let’s face another day and get through it the best we can as that is all any of us can do, forgive ourselves and do what makes you happy!
