NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH STARTS TOMORROW!

866290776564ae816ab6e636821b1271

It has certainly come round very quick as tomorrow is the 1st November so all your planning and resources should all be complete ready to go in the morning.  I have just one more read through of what I have written so far to do this evening then print it of and I will be ready.

How are you doing and who is participating this year?

I really hope I can get both my books finished as really want to start a new project in the new year.  I am also going to take a picture a day that has a meaning to myself, starting in January.  Very organised I hear you say, yes that bit comes easy it’s the keeping it up I have trouble with but new year new start and I will try my best.

I’m not sure what happened this year but since we put the clocks back my body clock has been all over the place, I was eating breakfast at 7.30am today!  I have written two book reviews on all social media, read emails, Facebook, Twitter and everything else I belong to and it is only 10.30 also writing this.  I have to decide which book to read next so that is my next job after a coffee.

What are you doing today?

FEBRUARY

img_2059-1

Hello February, let’s hope you are a bit better than January as I have missed most of that as been in bed poorly.  So this month we have Valentines Day so it is full of love and happiness.  I also have my eldest grandsons 16th birthday, he never changes and I love him to bits.

A short month so it takes us ever closer to Spring, I cannot wait and have already been looking at plants to get for the garden, I am particularly interested in a cherry tree as think the blossom will be lovely and if I get cherries then that’s all good, also more plants that come back every year as it is getting harder to get down to weeding.

What are you looking forward to in February?

TRUST IN ME BY SOPHIE McKENZIE-BOOK REVIEW

What a brilliant story, it kept me guessing right to the end so I could not put the book down; I now have bags under my eyes from lack of sleep!

The characters were great with the story running through so well that it just kept you gripped the whole way.  This is the first book of Sophie McKenzie that I have read and it won’t be the last as she is a super author, you really have to read this book.

It really does make you think about the whole trust issue and if I was Livy I don’t think I would have trusted any of them, it really keeps you alert so you try to not miss any clues along the way.  The twists at the end are surprising and some I would never have thought of.  Ten stars for this and it goes in my top ten books.

H.G.WELLS-AUTHOR

H.G._Wells_by_Beresford.jpg

I have always had a bit of a fascination for this very talented man H.G.Wells especially as he lived here in Folkestone, in fact he had the house built and it still stands today but is a nursing home.  I have been through the grounds and even seen the hut that he did a lot of his writing in.  You can even see the house he rented in Sandgate while the house was being built.

I do not think people are aware of how clever he really was in thinking up things of the future.  Even the house he built had bathrooms for every bedroom something no one else had thought of before and did not even take off until many years later after his death.  He predicted some sort of talking device to contact other people or as it is known today, the phone.

He was a very passionate man in his writing and his personal life, in fact when indulging in a passionate affair it would show in his writing.  His most famous book is The Time Machine which was so well received then, it put him forwards as a most popular author, so many wanted to read his views in his stories.

Folkestone used to be such a grand place, it would be lovely to see it like that again for our future generations.

MAD OR MAD

img_3841

First day of autumn, the sun was shining and I think I may be a little mad.  I have been trying to remember my doctor’s name all week so I can ring to make an app, I know I could have asked the receptionist but didn’t want her to think I was mad!  Just asked my daughter, she does think I am mad at times but now I can make an app.

It was bed changing day………wait there are only 3 pillows on the bed, where is the other pillow?  How can a pillow in its pillow case disappear, I may be mad!

Is this why I have writers block, so many local competitions to enter and not one story in my head!

What is in my head?  Not a lot by all accounts. lol.

WILD FOR FLOWERS, FOLKESTONE

You can smell the variety of fantastic blooms the closer you get to this shop, which is on Cheriton Place just up from Chambers and Anna’s.

So much variety but not just flowers but all the accessories, the welcome is like you’re a long-lost friend with so much help and advice given by them the experts in anything to-do with flowers.  The candles they stock are heavenly.

The window display is gorgeous, such wonderful colours and then inside you have the autumnal mix.  I cannot wait to see what their christmas pieces will look like, amazing I bet. If you are feeling artistic they are doing workshops to make your own wreath.  They will make up anything to order with all the care taken as if it is their own.

You can find them on Facebook and at the moment they are running a competition so head on over there and get yourself in with a chance to win some flowers and a £30 gift voucher for Follies.
